About Us

Welcome to the home of the Merseyside County Schools Football Association.

Since the foundation of the MCSFA in 1974, thousands of pupils have benefitted from playing schools’ football across Merseyside at both the primary and secondary ages and at all levels of the game. It is a legacy to be proud of.

Ken Davies – MCSFA Council Member 1976-2021, Secretary 1981-2019, County U15/16 Boys’ Team Manager 1987-2004 and inducted into life membership in 2021.

The Merseyside County Schools’ Football Association (MCSFA) was founded in 1974 after local government reorganisation and the establishment of the metropolitan borough councils. The newly formed Merseyside County Council covered the boroughs of Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.

Even though the Merseyside County Council has long since been dissolved, the MCSFA still exists today and is responsible for delivering football to schools, colleges and local associations / districts within these five boroughs at both primary and secondary levels. It consists of an elected Council of Members, including officers and representatives covering all areas of service to schools’ football across Merseyside.

The MCSFA is affiliated to the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA) and the Northern Counties Schools’ Football Association (NCSFA). The MCSFA adopts a policy of zero tolerance towards all forms of abusive and discriminatory behaviour shown by players and others at any football match or event under its jurisdiction. This policy also extends to social media.

The MCSFA fully supports all measures mandated by the FA, ESFA and NCSFA regarding safeguarding legislation. Its disciplinary procedures are also in line with those of the ESFA and the FA / County FA’s at the grassroots level.

The MCSFA runs five county representative teams – three boys at Under-18, 16 and 14 and two girls at Under-16 and 14. The outstanding national and Northern Counties success over the years of all our teams is documented elsewhere on our website.
